Myth: Halliburton Loophole exempts hydraulic fracturing from Safe Drinking Water act of 1974

Myth:  The “Halliburton Loophole” exempts hydraulic fracturing water from the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974.

Fact:  The Safe Drinking Water Act, originally passed in 1974, never covered hydraulic fracturing, nor was any "loophole" amendment ever offered to the SDWA by Congress to do so. There are other EPA and individual state rules and regulations covering hydraulic fracturing.  Click here to see Tony Ingraffea explain this in a video.
